Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Debary Memorial Park

Before I went back to the trail, I explored nearby Debary Memorial Park. It has a different feel than the nearby Gemini Springs. But that is hardly a bad thing.

Debary Memorial Park is a space dedicated to Veterans. I assume mostly the Air Force, but I don’t want to be wrong on that and make a false claim. Unlike the nearby springs, this park was quiet and peaceful. I was the only one here and it was calm enough that I felt the need to keep silence as not to break the atmosphere.

I’m not a veteran but I am sure this park is really for them. Still there is nothing wrong with me coming here as long as I respect the space. And that is true for anyone wanting to visit parks.

The most notable feature of the park was the jet right at the center. I don’t want to misname it, so I’ll call it a jet plane and assume its not a bomber since those tend to be a different shape. But what I can say for certain is that the one hanging in the pictures above was a genuine plane and not a replica. Why else would there be a sign warning of government property. Its not just a no trespassing sign. Its an advanced no trespassing sign.

Debary Memorial Park is meant to be a quiet place to reflect and think about those who paid the ultimate price. Not really a place one should go to just play Pokémon Go. I mean there are a couple stops and some spawns. But Gemini Springs is just across the street. Why not go there if you are playing Pokémon Go? The park is pretty though.

Sandile might not know what an airplane is, but it looks happy standing in the shadow of one. This little one will be my buddy for a bit longer. Hope you like the cute croc pictures.

I needed a peace and quiet sort of day. And visiting Debary Memorial Park scratched that itch. I should stop taking pictures when the sun is in my eyes though. I’m ready for my next adventure. And I finally found a hat to protect my head from the sun.
