Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Spring to Spring Trail 2
As promised I continued my adventure down Spring to Spring Trail 2. I started near a trailhead just to the west of my last stopping point.
Before I could get back to where I was before, I hiked down a trailhead that took me through some quiet as I walked back to Spring to Spring Trail 2. Well not completely quiet. The trailhead starts next to the Debary Sunrail station. But I have never been one to mind the sounds of train horns.
I did find some additional information about the trail itself. A shame that the new information covered up some of the old. There is probably some symbolism about how new can’t hide old or something, but I wasn’t thinking about that at the time.
Instead I reflected on the fact that once more I was out in the Florida heat. I still don’t have a hat. Better fix that soon or I’ll regret it. At least there were more clouds in the sky than before. Got some more shade than the other hike which was a brutal journey under a mean sun.
Mile Marker 25.0
Once I reached Spring to Spring Trail 2 proper, I headed towards Mile Marker 25. Remember that unlike almost every other adventure I have gone to thus far, the mile markers on this trail are going down. I started at the wrong end. Oh well. wasn’t going to scout out the trail ahead of time. Besides, going this way continues the journey I started with Cady Way Trail and Cross Seminole.
There was a lot to see as I continued down the trail and plenty of pictures capture what I saw. In my opinion the words are not needed. Besides I would probably just talk about the sun again. And its not like I haven’t already done that in this post.
One thing I did notice that was different was the benches in proper shade. That is a nice touch and helps hikers who are foolish enough to come to the trail in the middle of the day like me. Maybe I should have rested under the trees for a bit and enjoyed the nature surrounding me. Instead I kept walking. It is a travel blog after all. Feel compelled to move.
Near Gemini Springs:
The final segment of my journey down Spring to Spring Trail 2 took me to Gemini Springs. One of the springs that the trail name refers to. I’ll have an entire blog post dedicated to this massive park in the near future. But I didn’t want to spoil what the park looks like. Instead I followed the trail around the outskirts and took pictures of that.
The area leading up to the park continued that trend of open to the sky. I think I got sunburned on this adventure. But I’ll get over it. One of the things you get used to when living in the Sunshine State. The powerlines were my one constant companion besides the sun. And as I have stated in earlier posts, I didn’t really mind them.
There seem to be plenty of trails within Gemini Springs. I’ll take a look at them when I explore the park properly. But the journey in this blog post took me to a trailhead in the northeast corner of the springs. I’ll be exploring Gemini Springs first, but I am far from done with my journey on this trail. I have a little less than 25 miles to go according to mile markers.
Pokémon Go:
Just like earlier, Spring to Spring Trail 2 has lots of Pokémon Spawns but not a single Pokestops. But Gemini Springs looks different. Even being on the edge of it, I can tell its an awesome spot to play Pokémon Go. Hike Spring to Spring Trail for the experience, but for Pokémon Go, check out the parks that the trail travels between instead.
Sandile is still my buddy and isn’t as bothered by the sun as I am. Probably has to do with being from a desert climate or something.
There is a hatching event in Pokémon Go as of writing this article. Naturally I hatched a ton of eggs on this walk. And given the event had to do with egg hatches, several of them were amazing including a couple Pokémon I didn’t have yet such as Tyrunt and Tirtouga. Guess I got the eggs from people in two different areas. I swear I hatched those eggs at the same time.
I loved this adventure. I’m looking forward to Gemini Springs even more. There are a ton of places to check out in Volusia County and unlike Seminole and Orange nearby, I have never lived around here and so all this stuff is brand new. Look forward to much more exciting stuff as I travel around.
