Cycle of Millennia 2021 Session 39: Where It All Began

Admin/ January 27, 2022/ Books, Dungeons and Dragons

Here is week 39 of my 2021 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Cycle of Millennia. Its ten years later. The party returned to where it all began.

Don’t forget that this campaign has been ongoing for over three years. There is a lot of story to cover and I’m writing a book series to document it all. I am adapting this adventure into a book series. The first three are on Amazon.

!!!Trigger Warnings Abound!!!

This campaign takes place in an incredibly unpleasant setting. The party has dealt with Human Traffickers, Sex Slavery, Child Sacrifice, The Apocalypse, Genocide, Wicked Cults, and other related topics.

There is a God of Madness that is fond of causing auditory and visual hallucinations, makes use of psychic gaslighting, commands the literal legions of hell, and all around causes untold suffering in the setting.

Essentially, nothing is off the table in this campaign. If the above ideas are not ones you want to think about, I do not think this blog series is for you. That is not a problem and does not indicate any failings on your part. I am a storyteller that does not shy away from the darkest topics. It would be horrible for me to not warn my audiences of this in advance.

!!!Final Trigger Warning. Past this point there be dark topics!!!

The party returned to Krento. According to Rose Belwyn had traveled here. This city served an important role for the group. This had been where it all began. One fateful meeting between Grez, Velros, and a certain Stone Giant had kickstarted all these events.

The first thing that Grez did when they arrived was search for his spaceship. Since he had first landed on this world, he had never traveled back to try and repair it. But it had been ten years. He decided it was time to try and tell the party the truth.

Velkaora noticed something unusual about Grez’s ship. Everything from the outer shell to all the inner bits was made of magic. And not just any magic. Wulf. The God of Freedom had notably been absent during all the events. He was the only divine entity outside of a neutral God that the party had not come in contact with yet.

Keeping that information to herself, she watched as the Monk asked Lord Death to bring the spaceship into the Necropolis. Quickly they found out that it was impossible to do so. Instead, Grez just buried it again. He considered asking that other of his species for help. Assuming he could find here that was.

With the ship dealt with, there was another matter to attend to. While this was the place where it all began, there was a problem The city was intact- somehow. Significant considering the Tarrasque had completely leveled this place ten years ago.

Danger:

Naturally the party was suspicious. And running into Belwyin who seemed to be deep in thought did nothing to change that. After exchanging some greetings and a conversation about how it had been 10 years since they had seen each other post resurrection, the group of six decided to see what a destroyed city might hide.

It didn’t take long for Caic to detect problems. His divine sense alerted him to Devils hidden among the buildings. Velkaora meanwhile was alerted by Entropy that the city was created by concentrated chaos and was a real illusion. Apperently Orabaras had intewnded to ambush and kill the party here. But now other Gods were involved.

With their advantage lost, the Devils, which included a Pit Fiend tried to kill the party. Rose refused to help and ignored her underlings cries for help. She was doing the best she could to help the group without drawing her Goddess’ fury.

With the Devils destroyed and Belywn now with the group, they explained where they were headed next. While the two Dragons had differing opinions on bringing the party to their realm, the deciding factor was that it was true that their kidn hid the entrance to a God’s realm. If that could end this horrible divine war, then it was worth the risks.

So the group left the empty fields that had once been Krento. No sign remained of where it all began.

Heading Towards Darkness:

Next the six headed towards Iron, another city that had been important at the start of the journey. However this now destroyed city had been important later too. The first neutral God the party had encountered had sat dormant under the city. And that is where the Tarrasque had first emerged. This entire journey was a walk down memory lane.

However, the ruins of that city were not where they headed. Instead, the road to Iron passed above a canyon. That place had been avoided twice now by the party. This time, they intended to travel into the shadows below. This mysterious place was where the Dragons lived according to both Belwyn and Rose.

Before the group could make their way into the darkness, monsters came running up to the road. Another reminder of where it all began. These creatures had attacked the party the very first time Belwyn and Hadron had decided to travel with Velros, the Stone Giant and Grez. Naturally, they were no match for the group who had gained significant power since.

Wrap Up:

After so long avoiding this place, the party is finally going to learn about the Dragons and their mysteries. But something bodes ill. What are the Draconoids that are now attacking them running from?
