Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: St. John’s Park
After my amazing adventure at the riverfront, I realized I missed a park. So I went to check out St. John’s Park. Let’s see what this quiet space had to offer.
While much smaller in size than my last adventure, this peaceful corner right near downtown has its own appeal. St. John’s Park is an interesting name for this place since its in the wrong county. I kid, it probably named for the nearby river. But I am not joking that the county south of the one I was in is called St. John’s. Jacksonville of course sits in Duval County. Its a meme.
Anyway, there are a couple benches here to sit on. Plenty of apartments and office buildings sit nearby. As does the Riverwalk and the last park I visited before that. Within the park sits a small green area and a paved path. Not too much else to see here I’ll admit.
One last thing you can see from this park is a bridge that carries the Elevated Train into downtown Jacksonville. I was excited a year ago when I first moved here to learn that Jacksonville has an elevated train. I became elated when I learned it was free to ride. Sadly, it doesn’t go out as far as I would like. Its a shame because this country needs infrastructure repairs. Rather than abandon what we already have, we should improve it. Imagine what it could do for a city when those without a car can easily travel around without having to spend hours on inefficient bus rides.
Pokémon Go:
Here is St John’s Park in Pokémon Go. While there are some spawns here and two Pokestops in range, why come here to play when the Riverwalk is right nearby? That is where you should go if you want to play Pokémon Go. But this can be an entry point for when you want to go there at least.
Munna had fun at St. Johns Park. But then again it gathers dreams and floats around all day. Its easy to have fun anywhere when that is your life.
Most of the time when I take pictures, I simply look angry or sad. This time though, while visiting St. Johns Park, I had a horrible migraine courtesy of my second Covid 19 Vaccine Shot. As of me writing this post, I feel a lot better.
Wrap Up:
I don’t have much more time left in Jacksonville. Got to make these last few days count. expect some truly amazing places visited in that timeframe.
