Megacon 2026 Day 1
Dressed as a Star Trek Captain and eager to see much more amazing costumes, I headed to Megacon 2026 Day 1 to attend one of my favorite events of the entire year. As an extrovert with hyper focused thoughts, I can annoy my friends and family when I take about the same topics endlessly. But Megacon is one of those spaces where I’m surrounded by others that are equally into those very same topics. Its a truly magical experience for someone on the Autism Spectrum like me and its why I attend this convention year after year.
Anyway, enough about me. Let’s take a look at just a little of what I saw during Megacon 2026 Day 1. For those of you reading this who have never attended something like this, first off why not? Second, just know that even the pictures below that show large rooms with even larger crowds do not properly showcase what this event is like.

First I want to talk about the many much more talented than me cosplayers. There are lots of people walking around these conventions and I can only get so many pictures. Not to mention that Cosplay is not Consent in any way shape or form. Some people just don’t want their pictures taken and that is well within their right.
But for those that were willing, and when I was able to stop and get pictures, I hope that these will be enough for those of you who could not attend. I saw many cosplays from Gachiakuta and Chainsawman including Riyo, Zanka, Denji/Chainsawman, and The Bomb Devil. There were many others from those shows that I saw passing by but didn’t get a chance to get pictures of.
Other highlights in the above pictures include The Protagonist and Ryoji from Persona 3, A Tank, Lucy from One Piece, Gorou from Genshin Impact, Doctor Doom from Marvel, Countless Expedition 33 Characters in their Baguette Costumes, Shadowheart with an Astarion doll from Baldur’s Gate 3, Shego from Kim Possible, Stab from Scream, Mojo Jojo from The Powerpuff Girls, Pikachu from Pokemon and Devil Homura from Madoka Magica.

I’m always one to support local artists, especially ones that I know outside of the conventions. Its become a tradition whenever I attend this convention to check out my friend pictured here with an art piece I purchased during the event. And Megacon 2026 Day 1 was no different. He has a lot of incredible art work for sale both at conventions and outside them. Here is a link to his website so that you can see for yourself.
Panels and Photos

One of the main reasons that I attend Megacon is to go to panels. And while it was calm on day 1, I took the chance to see more of them than on later days. For my first panel of Megacon 2026, I attended one featuring Alejandro Saab also known as CyYu. I have played several games where he has been a featured voice actor as well as watched some of his streams. Always an entertaining man, I enjoy watching him be a chaos gremlin when he interacts with his fellow voice actors, like when the Genshin Voice Actors play Among Us.

For the second and final panel of the day, I got to listen to the three voice actors who voiced the English Dub for Death Note. In the picture above, from right to left are Brad Swaile who voiced Light, Alessandro Juliani who voiced L, and Brian Drummond who voiced Ryuk. Death Note is filled with nonstop intrigue, which made the fact that most of the panel was spent talking about funny moments when recording, that much more entertaining. I found it funny that Brad gets chips to eat all the time in real life, while Brian has been gifted tons of apples. On brand of course, but goofy nonetheless.

One last image I want to talk about for day one. And what a way to end this post I might add. Since I was wearing my Star Trek Captain costume, what better way to honor Star Trek than to meet the man, the legend himself, William Shatner? This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for my brother, also pictured and me. I’ll admit that I’m not as well versed on Star Trek as I should be. And I should be judged for it. But getting a chance to meet Shatner was like a dream come true.
I got to do a lot during Megacon 2026 Day 1, but this was just a prelude for the even more exciting days that came after. There were three days to go, and plenty more to check out.
