Centrum Glacies Session 117: Rock Golem

Admin/ September 12, 2025/ Books, Centrum Glacies, Dungeons and Dragons

Week 117 of the Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies continues as the party fights a Rock Golem in the deepest part of the mine.

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book seriesYou can check out the first one here.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing in the book series.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture, psychological warfare, child abuse, and slavery.

Most recently, the party helped cause a complete planetary genocide. Save a few survivors, no one remains from that world. They are still grappling with this unfathomable loss of life and their role in making it happen. It is clear that their suffering is far from over. They can only hope they don’t cause untold pain to an even more untold more.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

Deep in a pit surrounded by dangerous material on all sides and separated from their two Witch “allies” the party fought against a Rock Golem. The creature seemed impervious to their attacks and the group was exhausted from fighting all the way here. That was until Kisara noticed a flicker and put her “blood trail” goggles on.

She spotted a weak point and directed the rest of the party to target that spot. The Rock Golem was resistant to cold damage though which was a problem for the White Dragon. But not an issue for the rest of the party who quickly capitalized on this weakness.

Still, the Rock Golem was not going to sit idle and let the party beat it into submission. It returned their attacks with some of its own. First it slammed the ground causing spikes to launch towards the party. Those who failed to dodge the attack were rooted in place and left vulnerable to its other threats.

Another of those threats happened to be smaller rocks. The Rock Golem periodically summoned smaller dangers that slowly floated towards it. Worried about what they were doing, Obrom smashed one of them, and revealed that their destruction yielded weak and fleeting healing magic. He told the others about this, worried that the Rock Golem would likely heal from these same rocks if they were not destroyed.

Dangerous Attacks

As the party continued attacking it, the Rock Golem curled into a ball and rolled at them. Those who failed to dodge out of the way were knocked backwards and into the dangerous substances that coated the walls. And they took quite a bit of damage from the monster as well.

After quite a few strikes to its weak point, the spot burst, blinding Kisara who was wearing the goggles. She quickly took them off so she could see. Specifically see what the rest of the group was now capitalizing on. That weak point was now completely visible and made the Rock Golem vulnerable.

Once more Kisara put on the goggles to help the group find the Rock Golem’s weak spot. This seemed to be in the bag, if not perilous and time consuming all the while. But the creature had a few more tricks ready in case its enemies were persistent.

Fog

Specifically it summoned a series of the smaller rocks in a corner of the room where only Trent was nearby. And he was mostly out of spells. He only had basic attacks and magic ready. Not enough to clear the rocks on his own. As they floated towards the Rock Golem, it looked like they would heal the monster. That was, until Obrom used his last powerful spell to cast a wall of force. He kept the rocks away from their enemy. But Trent was trapped on the other side too.

While separated from them by the wall, Trent was not separated from the Rock Golem’s next trick. It had some control over ice, as well as heat given the material in its body was similar to that on the walls. It combined these two aspects to fill the room with a ton of fog. Enough to completely obscure the room in fact.

But fog was just a minor inconvenience for them. Especially when two Dragons with large wings were among them. A simple flap flap later and the fog in most of the cave was gone. The only section remaining was with Trent behind the wall of force. And as soon as he destroyed the last rock over there, and the wall was canceled, he was clear of it too.

Wrap Up

The monster is weakening but so is the party. And even should they defeat the Rock Golem, they don’t see a way out of this cave. Not to mention, the Orcs have still not made their move.
