Centrum Glacies Session 111: Star Spawn

Admin/ July 11, 2025/ Books, Centrum Glacies, Dungeons and Dragons

Week 111 of the Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies continues as the party clashes with more Aberrations including Star Spawn.

Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book seriesYou can check out the first one here.

Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing in the book series.

!!!Trigger Warning!!!

This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture, psychological warfare, child abuse, and slavery.

Most recently, the party helped cause a complete planetary genocide. Save a few survivors, no one remains from that world. They are still grappling with this unfathomable loss of life and their role in making it happen. It is clear that their suffering is far from over. They can only hope they don’t cause untold pain to an even more untold more.

!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!

The party fought against more Abberations. Creatures that Persephine and Englique called Star Spawn. The group didn’t get a chance to ask how they knew this name as the group was too busy surviving their unusual attacks.

Despite these dangerous enemies though, Persephine claimed she would only offer supportive help. The Mythril Adventurer preferred that the party did all the heavy lifting. Instead the witch would only use more of her power if the group was in serious danger.

At those words, Trent grew more suspicious. Between dodging deadly attacks from monstrosities with several arms that was. Engelique and Persephine were extremely dangerous people and they had both directly and indirectly caused harm to the party several times now.

But Trent didn’t get much time to ponder what they might be plotting. Not when unknown monsters spawning from dangerous substances lining the cave demanded his attention. So he divided their forces by calling a wall of fire into existence.

Jyona made a serious mistake not shielding herself from a bite from one of the weaker monsters. A creature that looked like a corpse with its skin turned inside out in fact. A mistake for sure since their very touch, much less painful bite betrayed their other worldly nature.

There was some sort of disease in those fangs. Jyona felt dizzy and lightheaded. And despite that all, her blood was rushing furiously. But whatever was happening to her made her an easy target. Something that a creature armed with several arms made clear and it hacked her to pieces. She nearly died from this onslaught. And only Trent’s timely healing spared her a gruesome fate.

Post Battle

Yet this group had fought horrors from beyond their realm several times. And with Engelique and Persephine adding some destructive attacks of their own, the party prevailed even against these threats. Still, the smaller monsters had some sort of enchantment that made it difficult to fight against the larger monsters. Something that Engelique pointed out as she burned one of the Star Spawn away.

After the battle was over and all the Star Spawn destroyed, Persephine informed the party that the strongest of her weapons, The Law of Silence had no effect on the Star Spawn or any of the other aberrations that had appeared in this place. Engelique’s Law of Time had not worked either.

The party was taken aback by this revelation. This hinted at a connection between the Star Spawn and one of the deadliest beings the party had faced. Hashim, the Face Stealer and likely an aberration itself. When Trent mentioned that name, both Engelique and Persephine’s faces grew grim. They had also encountered it at some point.

Obrom however did not know about Hashim. He had not been traveling with the party at any of the points where their paths had crossed that aberration. So they filled him in. And the Bard remarked that a creature that stole faces was more unnerving than anything they had faced. Including the complete destruction of the Feywild.

Enemies Familiar and Worse

Persophine changed the subject. And it was clear that she didn’t like discussing Hashim anymore than the rest. Instead, she come off a bit hostile and informed them that if not for Engelique taking a liking to the party, she would have simply floated behind and watched. Yet Trent and Obrom noticed a bemused smirk from Engelique. Persephine was lying and trying to make herself seem tougher.

As they continued onward, Persephine warned them all to spread out immediately. She detected some unknown threat and the others, Engelique included had no idea what was going on. But it wasn’t wise to ignore the warnings of a Mythril Adventurer and so the party, Teztcal included all complied.

Combat began soon after. And the entire party was shaken as the monstera appearing had attacked them before. Specifically when the Feywild had been destroyed. And now there were four of them as opposed to one.

This time around, Persephine and Engelique did not hold back. The Witches even admitted that they had fled last time such creatures had appeared in these caves. With the party’s help, they intended to fight this time. And they both brought their awesome powers to bear. Persephine cut two of the creatures off from the battle by casting Prismatic wall. Engelique meanwhile hasted the entire party.

The four aberrations flew into the air, ignoring gravity just like before. And the beasts spiraled quickly as they prepared to land. The magic wall blocked two of them, and Obrom managed to put one to sleep while it was in midair. As for the fourth though, it landed with a ground shattering crash and knocked everyone away from it.

Wrap Up

The party knew that they would encounter the monsters from the Feywild again one day. But not almost immediately. What could that mean for what’s happening on the Abyssal Continent?
