Centrum Glacies Session 81: Zombie Hordes
Week 81 Dungeons and Dragons Campaign in Centrum Glacies continues with the party trapped in a dangerous jungle. Zombie Hordes lie in wait deep in the cursed swamps.
Like my other campaign, I’m turning this one into a book series. You can check out the first one here.
Anyway, just like my other campaign, there is a whole lot going on and I don’t want to elaborate on every moving piece in the story. You can see the whole thing in the book series.
!!!Trigger Warning!!!
This story deals with a cruel world with some horrific twists. So far, this campaign has featured: Animals getting killed, Genocide, lots of body horror, evil cults, brainwashing, torture, psychological warfare, child abuse, slavery.
One of the party members had an eye gouged out and lost an arm. Not exactly the way it happens in Berserk, but that might have been the inspiration for it. The group was incinerated in lava. But rather than die, they were transformed into Demons. They might be free from these transformations for now, but only time will tell what this means for them.
!!!Final Trigger Warning!!!
Deep in a cursed jungle and now also surrounded by fetid swamp water, the party fended off a horde of Zombies. But even empowered by the spores in the air, Zombies were still Zombies. The group cut them down at a fast rate. A good thing too since the reanimated Mages could still use a few spells.
The Frost Animated Armor and Teztcal ran ahead, or in the Dragon’s case, flew. The swamp water was not as much a hinderance to them as the others. Unfortunately, they encountered an Obsidian Cultist on one of the nearby islands situated in the middle of the swamp. And he wasn’t alone.
The Cult Appears
The Cultist activated some sort of summoning spell and even the party members far away from the island heard noises. They were far from alone. And there were more than just Zombies creeping about.
Realizing that she was surrounded on many sides and a soon to be target, Jyona used a spell that she had avoided for the longest time. But armed with a sanctuary barrier, she was protected from harm.
She didn’t want the others to remain split up, so Jyona used another spell she hadn’t made use of in the past. Calling upon her powers, she called forth a floating disk large enough for a person to stand on. And she raised the platform high enough that it was away from the water.
Unfortunately another surprise threatened to pull the group into that fetid water. Some of the Druids of Cleansing had been Zombified too. And they could still cast Thorn Whip. A Zombie that could use Magic was already bad enough, but one that could use said Magic to pull the group closer to them, and into toxic water was another entirely.
All the while, Trent kept the party out of the toxic spore air. His form was able to change size to fit on the disc. And no matter what size or shape he assumed, he attracted a near infinite number of blood sucking moths. But he continued thinning their numbers as the creatures were drawn to his bright light, and promptly incinerated when they got too close.
Wrap Up
The group has a lot of monsters still to kill. And they still don’t know what is at the center of this cursed Jungle.
