Exploring the World with Pokémon Go: Seminole Wekiva Trail 4
I finally got the time to explore Seminole Wekiva Trail 4. Let’s see what I discovered on the next leg of my trail journey.
The first leg of Seminole Wekiva Trail took me past Mile Marker 4.0 and alongside the last two parks I visited. Unlike last time, there were no signs of rain. I got to walk in peace and didn’t feel the need to rush. During my visit here I wasn’t feeling great mentally so it was nice to take some time to be in nature and relax.
This trail has been exciting so far. I travel near many of the locations this path goes through. But seeing it all on foot gives a different perspective. Getting to listen to the sounds around me rather than rushing about ended up being far more calming than I anticipated.
While the pictures make it look like I was far from everything, just beyond those tree lines one can see signs of civilization. On the left side sit homes. I imagine the land value of those neighborhoods must be high.
Mile Marker 4.25:
The second part of my journey down Seminole Wekiva Trail 4 took me past the second of two parks. You can see the lower area of a place I visited prior. As I passed Mile Marker 4.25, the sun came back out and reminded me that I live in Florida. A good thing that this section of the trail was shaded then.
The stairs in the above pictures lead back to the Softball complex. Multiple signs were more than happy to remind me of such a fact. Something I thought about when I traveled down this trail is how much better said signage is than some of the other places I have gone.
Years ago when I first started this travel blog, a few of the bike trails and such were horribly marked. I don’t want to list specific examples out of fear that I might scare some people away from checking them out. But directions are important, especially when traveling on foot.
Mile Marker 4.5:
The next part of my Seminole Wekiva Trail 4 adventure took me past some buildings that I recognized. Years ago before the pandemic and even before moving to Jacksonville I worked around here. I didn’t realize that this trail was the one that I saw while working immediately. But I scouted parts of this adventure on Google Maps to plan where I was going and the connection hit.
In fact, a little further down the trail was the section I am most excited for. I’ll get to that part in a moment. For now though, take a look at the above pictures I took around Mile Marker 4.5. You can see the diversity in what I saw in even quarter mile stretch of trail. Realizing just how much there was to see in my backyard is why I started this travel blog years ago.
Mile Marker 4.75:
After passing Mile Marker 4.75 on Seminole Wekiva Trail 4, I took a sharp turn and heading close to where I planned to stop for the day. This section of the trail finally took me away from the woods and put me near familiar streets. I had already seen much of this part from my car. Still, it was exciting to be here on foot now.
Not as exciting was the heat. Now that I was away from the shade, the Florida sun hit me full force. Not a good time to realize I needed to drink more water. This is your reminder to drink water. Most people do not drink enough.
Mile Marker 5.0
The final part of my Seminole Wekiva Trail 4 adventure took me past Mile Marker 5.0. I saw Interstate 4 in the distance as a concrete barrier. I’ll be getting even closer to this infamous road in a later adventure on the trail. According to maps, I’ll walk right up to a rest stop alongside the Interstate Highway. I wonder what barriers are in place to protect people?
This hike ended at a spot I am eager to explore. Knowing that it will be the first thing I see on my next adventure is exciting. I’m talking about that tunnel you can see in the above photos. I don’t get to talk about it much on this blog since I live in Florida, but I love tunnels. Being underground doesn’t terrify me in the slightest. As silly as it may seem, traveling through that tunnel is on my bucket list. I’m eager to begin that adventure in earnest.
Pokémon Go:
For whatever reason, the picture I took of this part of the trail in Pokémon Go is nowhere to be found. But I can still talk about my experience playing the game. Seminole Wekiva Trail 4 was even better than the pervious areas as far as the game was concerned.
There have been non stop spawns the entire journey. But this section also passed many landmarks. Those spots happen to Pokestops frequently. And there were a few Gyms to battle along the way too.
All in all, the parks along the trail are incredible spots to play Pokémon Go. And I fully endorse using the trail to travel between them as well. You won’t be disappointed no matter the reason you visit the Seminole Wekiva Trail.
Gothita had a lot of fun traveling with me down Seminole Wekiva Trail 4. It didn’t seem bothered by the sun. Maybe its Psychic powers help it ignore heat?
I’m doing my best to smile. But once again the sun is in my eyes. I need to stop doing that. Still, that tunnel is right behind me. It took a lot of willpower to not go check it out right then and there. Next time.
Wrap Up:
I’ll be traveling farther down the trail and into uncharted territory next. And I get to go through that tunnel first thing. I can’t wait. This next adventure seems promising already.
