Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Lake Underhill Path
I had originally planned to go elsewhere today. But after how much I enjoyed exploring Little Econ prior, I looked at a trail much closer to my house. So even though I have hit parts of Lake Underhill Path before, I returned to fill in the gaps.
Lake Underhill Path connects multiple parks that I have visited before. The trail starts near Park of the Americas, which I already have written about in the past. The first picture above marks where that park ends and the trail begins.
I have mentioned Toll Road 408 in many of my blog posts. The road serves as a barrier that divides multiple sections of Orlando. This is the first time I have actually crossed underneath this expressway in one of my adventures. As the tunnel shows, it is quite wide at this section.
Finally, Lake Underhill Path turns towards Downtown Orlando right after the Toll Road 408 underpass. Following Lake Underhill Road westwards from this point until much farther down.
The Bridge:
The second section of Lake Underhill Path crosses a bridge pictured at three points above. I have driven over this bridge many times. So even though this is not an impressive natural phenomena, it stands out to me. I also find ramps, bridges, and tunnels to be equally fascinating to natural landforms.
At the top of the bridge, I snapped a photo of Toll Road 408. Though a black fence obstructs part of the view, those of you who do not live in Orlando finally get a view of the road.
The final stretch of Lake Underhill Path took me past a marshy area that sits right alongside Toll Road 408. There is an open field here that has a sign posted about specific rules. Perhaps due to the close proximity of an airport, using this small clearing for recreation is problematic?
Almost at the end of this part of the journey, I reflected back on the fact that despite driving past this place almost every day, I have never been here on foot. There is so much that we constantly miss because of how we are always in a rush.
Finally I reached the other end of the trail. Lake Underhill Park has been the focus of one of my prior blog posts so there is little reason to talk about it again. I am eager to see what the other part of Lake Underhill Path looks like. That will be the focus of my next adventure.
Pokemon Go:
Given that this path is between two parks, Lake Underhill Path is not so great for hunting Pokemon. There were two Pokestops, pictured above. And a Ralts even spawned at one of them. But I count that more as extremely good luck rather than a great place to play.
I hatched a Nosepass on my walk. Its evolution is one of the few generation 4 Pokemon still missing from Go. Maybe I can evolve this thing soon.
Look forward to me exploring the other half of Lake Underhill Path during my next adventure. I wonder what I will find?
