Dungeons and Dragons Day 21: Dinner Party Part 2
The Main Hall:
Entering the main hall, the party began getting acquainted properly with the Dwarven Nobles. As they had made an ally in House Trollbreaker thanks to the Paladin, this is the house they sat nearest.
The Monk spoke to house Windmaul who warned him of Vampire servants. He was told to talk to the Battlemaiden of the house while dancing. While the Monk was opposed to dance of any kind, he was informed that the true purpose behind it was to speak where ears could not listen.
The Death Knight and Rose patrolled the party and earned the looks of many of the nobles. Neither cared though as their goal was to scout for Vampires. Indeed, getting stares actually helped their cause since they ended to search for hints such as eye color.
Return of the Necromancer:
The Necromancer had been in the custody of House Bronzebuckle and learned much about the current situation. As it turned out, there was a good reason that the Leader of the House had anger issues. Also House Minebuckle held many dark secrets that had forced the house split. The main reason he was at this dinner party was to hunt vampires. Being a Necromancer would aid him in this.
The Barbarian/Warlock spent his time talking to House Trollbreaker. He wanted to learn everything he could about the enemy within the palace. Trollbreaker seemed aware of the intrigue and admitted that they wanted to usurp House Runebrewer as the top House.
Vampires and Demons:
The Paladin decided to use his detect evil spell in his endeavor of finding the Vampires. However, trouble brewed when he walked around the Dinner Party with this skill active. The Queen appeared as an Undead, and the fact that her aura vanished almost immediately meant that she was a Vampire! There was another problem involving Vampires. Bhalgire, sister of Daznock Runebrewer was also a Vampire and she gave the Paladin a knowing look before her Aura also vanished.
Rushing back to report this dire discovery with the party yielded another horrific reveal. As the Paladin walked past Fodrin, there was another truth that unmasked itself. The Prince’s guards were not Dwarves. They were Demons. Just what reason would he have for those guards?
The Dance:
The dance began and each of the party members found a partner from another house and discussed their findings. All roads seemed to lead to the servants quarters. As it turned out, the entire palace was swarming with Vampire Spawn. The group was tasked with killing as many of these monsters as possible. The Necromancer finally approached the rest of the party and after explaining what he had been up to, informed them that they would have an hour to kill Vampires before the nobles of the party would start to take notice.
First, there was a matter to resolve with Gonk. The group needed to know if he was truly a Wereboar or not. Gonk revealed that he was indeed one of them and that the reason he had been so hellbent on killing the one the group had fought in Iron was in hopes of freeing himself. However, it turned out that killing the Wereboar who infected him did not remove the curse. Gonk remained in his armor which carried an enchantment to stop him from transforming.
The Servant’s Quarters:
Ready to kill some Vampires, the group which also included Rose and Gonk entered the servant’s quarters. They were ambushed in moments by two Vampire Spawn that lurked on the wall right past the door. However, the party was well equipped to fight these creatures. Indeed, the biggest threat they dealt with involved Wild Magic when Rose accidentally cast a fireball spell on herself. This mistake was brushed off, but she was warned not to make such a foolish error again.
The end of the world is coming and now the party has to deal with Demons and Vampires at the worst possible time. How will they resolve this crisis? Especially when Queen Hespith herself might be the Vampire Antoinette?
