Deadman Wonderland: A Spoiler Free Review
I’m back again with another review that did not involve prison time to properly write.
Deadman Wonderland is an Anime that takes place in an alternate future where Japan was hit by a massive calamity. The main character, Ganta suffers nothing but misfortune as his entire life is suddenly changed when a mysterious figure in red appears in his classroom and proceeds to slaughter everyone in the entire room save him.
This misfortune continues as Ganta is blamed for the killings and the lawyer that comes to save him in reality is out to get him. Deadman Wonderlands takes place in the prison that is far more than it seems. Consparicies abound in this deadly facility where the prisoners are racing against the clock to live another day.
With only one friend, a mysterious girl named Shiro who’s mannerisms are as odd as her clothing, and connections to said friend that are only slowly revealed as the plot races on, Deadman Wonderland is a non stop action filled ride. Watching closely and listening to dialogue is key in truly appreciating this violent and bloody spectacle of an Anime.
The only major critique I have for this Anime is the unusual ending. The Manga is much better in this regard, but even this superior version has an unusual ending. But alas, budget cuts cannot be controlled by the viewer. Despite these flaws, Deadman Wonderland will entertain its viewers, and its plot only grows more intense each episode.
