Kill La Kill: Spoiler Free Review

Kill or Be Killed!  The name alone informs you just how much being over the top awaits in this Anime.  I had put off watching Kill La Kill for a while after being warned that I needed to be in the proper mind set to watch.  I am glad that I took this advice for the very start of this Anime is very… interesting to say the least.

Kill La Kill is known for a few things.  One is being over the top.  Two is being Ecchi.  For those who do not know the meaning, this word refers to items that are sexual and teasing in nature.  Given the way the show works, nudity happens fairly frequently.  Though unlike many other Anime, the reasoning is more justifiable.  I’ll get to that in a moment.  Finally, three as indicated by the image for the Anime, Kill La Kill is known for its Edgelord protagonist Ryuko, and her unique scissor blade.

Now that I have found my way back from, the tangent above, lets talk about Kill La Kill.

This anime features a plot that seems normal on the surface, but the silly antics and over the top factors make this an entertaining experience.  Ryuko is on a quest for revenge to find whoever killed her father.  The only clue she has is that the one who did the deed has the other half of her scissor blade.  With an unusual ally in the character Mako, known to knock sense into people without making any, she joins the Honnōji Academy as a student.  However, this military dictatorship of a school takes interest in her immediately.  The class president Satsuki takes personal interest in Ryuko and infers that she knows who the murderer is.

But she refuses to face the protagonist directly, and instead sends the entire school after her.  Armed with unique clothing called “Goku Uniforms” the students of Honnōji Academy have unusual powers while wearing said clothing. However, Ryuko herself quickly finds an even more powerful version of said clothing.  Unfortunately said battle armor causes her to appear scantily clad and also drinks her blood.  If this does not sound weird, I assure you it gets even stranger.

This Anime has a slow and seemingly repetitive start, but once the plot really kicks into high gear, and the better characters such as Satsuki and her Elite 4 Classmates, are properly fleshed out, Kill La Kill becomes an incredible experience for all who see it.  Kill La Kill is also a parody of Anime so this one may be fully enjoyed after viewing other series’s first.  Despite that, this one is certainly one worth watching.  Just be ready for some seriously over the top antics and some nudity too.
