Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Demetree Park

Admin/ December 24, 2018/ Travel

Only a couple of blocks from where I live sits Demetree Park.  I have driven past this location many times in the past, but never really had much incentive to take a look. That changed today and I am glad I made this decision.  Let’s see what I found in this park situation in the middle of an Orlando neighborhood just north of Curry Ford Road (State Road 552)

From the parking lot, I walked towards the park.  There is a playground to the right of this image, but I choose not to take a picture because children were at play. I consider it immoral to take pictures of people without their consent in most cases and this concept goes double when children are involved.

The Marshes:

Demetree Park has a trail that circles around a large lake.  That is nothing new considering that most of the parks I have visited have included such an area. What made this place different was the second trail that went into the marshes.  That of course was the direction I went instead.

Here is a picture I took of the marshes from the bridge. I imagine this could be a great place to sit and write some of my dark fantasy.  I keep being drawn to marshes.  Good thing I live in Florida!

Sadly my adventures in the marshes were cut short by a construction sign.  If I was to take a guess, I would assume that this area of the park is being fixed.  Maybe the hurricane damage has not been fully repaired? It could be many different factors.  I’ll probably never find out.

Other Side of the Park:

Since my way forward was blocked, I choose another route.  I discovered that Demtree Park had a second half and a second entrance to go with it.  The Tennis Courts here mark the transition to this area.

This pavilion was located farther down the path leading to Demetree Park’s second entrance.  As I walked back towards the lake I saw more and more of these areas dotting the sidewalk.  Notably, this half of the park was much emptier than the opposite entrance.

As expected by me at this point, I took multiple pictures as I walked around the lake. It truly is remarkable how varied each of these parks I visit are despite the fact that they share most of the same land formations. Even encountering the same species of animals time and time again becomes fresh with each visit.

Pokemon Go:

Here is Demetree Park in Pokemon Go.  There is a Pokemon Gym as well as multiple Pokestops.  I encountered Wild Pokemon all around the area.  While not as incredible as Lake Eola or Airport Lakes, Demetree is definitely worth checking out for those who play.

While the Christmas Pokemon Go event is causing it hard for me to tell where rare spawns are appearing in parks, I can say with confidence that since I encountered multiple Machop here, that some unusual Pokemon have the potential to appear. Make sure to check out Demetree park to get the perfect combination of video games and being outdoors.

Here is the adorable baby Pokemon I hatched today on my adventure.  Happy Holidays everyone!  I will not let Christmas Day stop me from exploring somewhere new tomorrow.  Look forward it it.
