Exploring the World With Pokemon Go: Cranes Roost Park

Admin/ December 28, 2018/ Travel

For those who play Pokemon Go in the Orlando region, Cranes Roost Park hardly needs an introduction. For those uninitiated, this park is around a massive lake in Altomonte Springs Florida. However, despite almost every park I have visited so far also being set around a lake, this area is different for many reasons from the rest. Let’s talk about why this region, that is located just being a massive shopping mall is one of the best destinations in Central Florida.

Thanks to the many streets that encircle it, there are many entrances to Cranes Roost Park. I choose to enter here and quickly the massive number of Pokemon appearing reminded me why I love coming here so much. At times, the lake pictured above can be flooded. At the moment though, the path around the entire complex was clear. A fun little tidbit for those who know this area well. Yes, the I-4 eyesore is in this image. I’ll talk more about that in a bit.

One would be wrong to assume that the lake is the only notable feature at Cranes Roost Park. There are plenty of pavilions around here. Those looking for something unique will be quite pleased with what they discover. Another amazing trait of Cranes Roost is the fact that it is 100 percent accessible by those who have trouble walking.

Pictured here is a concert hall. The entire stage is out on the water and the sound quality is rather unique as a result. I am standing where the seats are. Also while people are able to take pictures of this part of Cranes Roost, the I-4 Eyesore Photo-bombs like the memetic troll that it is.

The Tower:

Lets talk about this part of Cranes Roost. To Pokemon Go players, there are few areas in all of Orlando that matter more than here. The Christmas Tree is the least important aspect of this picture. What is relevant are the four Pokestops in that image, and with them comes never-ending streams of rare Pokemon that continuously spawn right there. If one wishes to sit in peace and catch great Pokemon, be sure to check out the tower at Cranes Roost.

This fountain can be found on the other side of The Tower that my last picture featured. One can be sure that if they can see this fountain, that rare Pokemon are in their reach. Having 4 Pokestops also be in range certainly helps with resources on this fun adventure.

The Lake:

It would not be a travel blog written by me if it did not contain lots of pictures involving a lake. Since much of the park at Cranes Roost involves this lake, that is no surprise. What I love about this park is that part of the path goes over the water rather than around it. A few of the pictures showcase this fact quite well.

I-4 Eyesore:

Now lets talk about the I-4 Eyesore since it keeps appearing in this photos. This building has been under construction for many years but never been completed. Many hurricanes have ravaged Florida and destroyed countless amounts of property, and still this one stands. Will this building ever be completed? Who knows?

Christmas Decorations:

Just like at Lake Eola, Cranes Roost Park is still in the Christmas spirit. While I will keep my annoyance of this fact to myself, I still managed to take pictures of many of the displays. This entire area is spectacular to view at night.

Pokemon Go:

Here is Cranes Roost Park in Pokemon Go. The fact that all the gyms were yellow when I took this photo is a sign of how great of a place to play Go this is. Instinct is the best team after all. Notice how there are gyms and stops along the entire path. Pokemon also continually appear the whole route. You will not see any here as I caught them before I snapped the image.

I want to call special attention to the region in the top left corner. All together there are 4 Pokestops a gym in close proximity. That is the Tower region that I talked about earlier. See the purple sparkles coming from those Pokestops? That means a player set a lure down. Even more rare Pokemon flock to an area when those items are used. It is a rare sight indeed for the Tower to not be filled with those playing Go.

All in all, along with Lake Eola, Cranes Roost Park stands tall as one of the best places in Orlando to play Pokemon Go. Its also one of my favorite scenic areas in the region. What I am trying to say is, everyone reading this should visit this park.

Legendaries:

Before I showcase the eggs I hatched today, I want to talk about the fact that I caught both Heatran and Deoxys Attack Mode. Both are legendary Pokemon that only appear in Pokemon Gyms as raid bosses. Deoxys is even harder to obtain given that to even encounter him requires a rare item in the players possession. Given my horrible luck normally, getting both these rare gems was quite a treat.

Eggs:

Here are the two eggs that hatched on my strange journey to catch multiple legendaries and explore Cranes Roost Park. Considering that I hatched Wobbuffet’s pre-evolution before I battled the legendaries and the fact that his final form was something I got right before I caught my very first legendary (at Cranes Roost in fact) I should have known that this was a good sign.

Look forward to a new adventure tomorrow. One of these days, I’ll be taking a trip down to what is considered the best place to play Pokemon Go in all of Orlando. Stay turned for that and more adventures.
