Priests:

A group of Priests that had been twisted by dark magic had confronted the group.  But Grez even more than the rest was tired of avoiding fights and charged right in. He was ready for some revenge for the trouble that all those serving Exscutchon. One was killed a manner of blows and the Monk began talking shit to the rest.  However, that proved to be a mistake.

As the Caster fell, his friends all glowed with a strange light.  And next the Priests got to counter attack and the fight quickly shifted into their favor. Sigvard realized immediately that killing these foes was a risky play. Unfortunately, there really were no other options. These brainwashed clergymen refused to back down.

However, the trouble was not over yet.  The group managed to gang up on one of the other Priests and Artin managed to even get the final blow herself after deciding to finally join the fray. With her skills of Druidic Magic, she revealed her style to be using the earth itself as a weapon. But as this second enemy fell, the rest of the enemies glowed once again.  It obvious that things would be harder from here.

It took a significant amount of effort to kill the next enemy.  And once again as the Priest died, the glow effect happened yet again. Hadron grew excited at the chance to fight increasingly stronger foes as did Grez.  However, the others in the group expressed doubts.  The two groups stared each other with none making any sudden moves.

Basilisks:

While this silent exchange happened though, a third group entered the fray.  The smell of dead flesh had attracted some hungry predators, and most of the party had fought these creature before: Basilisks!

The Priests were killed in a way that their power link abilities did not protect against.  Soon there were 4 statues where there had been enemies right before.  But the party save Caic had encountered these monsters before and prepared counter measures.

Sigvard cast Magical Darkness which eliminated the greatest weapon of the monsters.  After Grez explained to the Paladin how these creatures killed, Caic opted to stay back and let the Death Knight use his advantage in magical darkness to kill these monsters.  He preferred to live in stone, not be stone himself.

As it turned out, the Basilisks who had once served as a serious danger to the party were nothing compared to Demons, Angels, and the powerful Undead that the party kept seeming to fight.  With revenge against an old enemy complete, the group returned to the path glad that no more enemies were in pursuit.

To Iron… Again:

Setting periodic camps as the group continued towards Iron and ultimately Diamond, Grez reflected on the fact that this was just like how things had played out the first time, mentioning how Iron had sidetracked them all last time.

Sigvard decided to ask Naked Monk why he had chosen to participate in the tournament to kill some time and end the monotony.  The Monk stated that he had joined for the thrill of the fight, but admitted given how things played out, that he might not have made the best choices. The Death Knight agreed with all the strange happenings that they had been all brought into.  After all, three evil Gods ruled the world. But what those changes were had not been made so apparent just yet.

The group was close to Iron.  Would they get sidetracked a second time?
